Why work at Headers?

We are a remote first team. Part of the work is client projects, part of it products we own, so you get both: work with a deadline and a product that has to stand on its own.

How we build the team

The old split of roles stopped working. Teams are changing and so have we.

Work is not divided between a front-end and a back-end developer - our people do both. On top of that they have a feel for product: not product experts, but they know which questions to ask so the system is more than a pile of code. They keep asking what would make the app save people time.

How we work

A simple answer to a complicated problem

01

Pragmatism

The simple solution to a complicated problem usually wins, and we change course when the work asks for it. Whatever we ship has to keep working in production for years, not just on demo day.

02

Remote first

Working from a distance is the default. The office in Ceske Budejovice is an option, not a duty, and meetings get planned so they make sense to whoever is dialling in.

03

Client work and our own products

Some of the time goes to client projects, some to what we own. One teaches you to estimate and keep your word, the other to think about a product years ahead.

04

Automation first

Repetitive work gets automated so the time goes to real problems. AI comes in where it genuinely helps, not because it is in fashion, and new technology gets tried on our own projects before it reaches a client.

05

Quiet by default

Good code needs quiet. A person who is thinking gets left to think, and we skip any meeting that three sentences would settle.

What the team is like

Responsibility and trust instead of rules

01

No corporate ladder

All of us have worked in a big company, so we know when a rule helps and when paperwork stops the work. Personal responsibility and trust carry more weight here.

02

Nobody stuck alone

When somebody hits a wall, the rest step in. Knowledge gets shared, not guarded, and in a hard week you can lean on the others.

03

Room for individuals

The best results come when people work the way that suits them. This is not an army marching in step; everyone pulls in the same direction their own way.

04

Always learning

Software never stands still, so neither do we. New technology and new problems are part of the job.

Straight talk

What we say at the start

01

Pay follows responsibility

Rates go up when somebody carries more - a piece of a product, a decision, a client. Time served is not the measure. That is said at the start, because a raise nobody agreed on never arrives on its own.

02

We speak up early

When what you expect and what the work needs start to drift apart, you hear it in weeks, not at a yearly review. Sometimes that conversation ends in a plan, sometimes in a parting. Both beat silence.
